BOOK CORNER: Author shares journey of abuse and helps readers in new book
“Entangled in Blue: How I untangled the knots of multigenerational trauma and abuse, and turned it into something beautiful,” by Sarah Hummell, is a powerful narrative that offers a gripping account of the author’s realization that she was in an abusive marriage and how she navigated the aftermath and reclaimed her life.
“When the ‘Restaurant: Impossible’ episode aired on Food Network, I realized I had been in deep denial about the 20-year abusive marriage I found myself in,” Hummell said. “A year later, my husband fired a gun in front of our two small children and the bullet narrowly missed my head. … I had no idea how I got myself into the situation I was in and no idea how I was going to get myself out of it.”
Hummell never intended to share her story and began writing as a way to release the thoughts swirling around her head. As she started writing, she noticed the pattern of abuse and how it escalated in frequency and severity.
